I can help moderate chat while Lindsey and Jolene will be talking
So far so good.
If I already loaded several segments of film in modules, how to I move them to the proper place?
Constance, you can drag and drop items within modules to other modules. If you want to rearrange the order of modules, you can also do that too.
Click the 8 waffle dots to the left of a module or an item within a module to move.
And apologies, click and drag the 8 waffle dots to move
I used Echo 360 client to record a short video clip, but don't immediately see how to put that into canvas.
Craig, Echo360 will publish to the Echo360 area
if you would like to link to an Echo360 video within a module, you can go to Module > + Item > Add External Tool > + Echo360
You can also add an echo360 recording embed into any Canvas text editor.
Correct, so create a page within a module and then embed Echo360 there :)
Any of those 3 options will work!
Yup! (For the text editor, look for the button that has a blue circle around a blue triangle.)
if I have 30 minute quiz and I assign it to take from 1 pm - 2 pm, do they have to start the quiz late to late by 1:30 pm or they can start at 1:59 pm and still take the quiz
Mehul, they can start at 1:59pm and take the quiz within the 30 minute timer you set.
okay, thanks Kate
It’s also important to note that the time limit does not pause if they navigate away from the page.
Kate, can I lock files or quizzes within a module so they have to progress through that module in order? Where do I add pre-requisites?
The quiz will be available for access during that one hour window but once they start, the timer begins counting down. If you have a student with an accommodation who requires time and a half on the exam (or double time, etc.), use the "Moderate" button in the quiz to add extra time to individual students' attempts.
Is there a limit to how short a quiz can be? E.g., could I give a quiz with a time limit of 2 mins?
Lou, you can! Let me send you a link to instructions.
Hi Jim, I believe the shortest time limit is 1 minute but let me look into that.
can I have problem set for quiz and canvas can randomly assign different questions to students
For students to submit assignments, how do they do that and what do I see when they do?
Shortest quiz timer is 1 minute
A student can submit assignments by clicking on the name of the assignment, and then following the instructions on their screen.
You are not able to give students less than 1 minute of time to take a quiz.
I’ll get some instructions—you can also test these out by using the Test Student feature.
I teach course where students have to draw 2d projection of 3d part, what is the best way to upload their work for that particular question of the quiz

Mehul, you can create a quiz with a “file upload” question if you want to include a question that involves a student’s drawing.

Canvas messages do not allow for rich-text editing. This is because students can opt-in to text messages which do not support rich-text (bolding, italics, etc.)
Other areas of Canvas support rich-text, but not the "Messages" tool. If you want to create bulleted lists or emphasize text, consider dashes and capitalized text in lieu of bolding, colored text, etc.
Jolene, you fail.
Can you please show us how to hide grades from students so that no one can see grades until we have finished grading all submissions from a particular assignment?
Here's a link to instructions but I believe Lindsey will be going over this as well: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-17999-how-do-i-use-posting-policies-in-my-course
Valerie Smedile Rifkin
how did you add images to your week modules in sample course?
The week 1, 2, etc. Jennifer? I was about to ask the same thing?
will a recorded powerpoint with voiceover be too large to post as a file?
If we want students to post videos (let's say a short presentation they have to do), should they do that through Studio?
Canvas storage is defaulted to 1gb but if you have large course files and find yourself close to capacity, we can increase on a course-by-course basis. It is not meant to be restrictive, just the default. But as Lindsey points out, exporting a PPT via File to a video file, you can use Canvas Studio for that.
So do we have to make Studio visible to students?
Jennifer, no. Not if you post individual Canvas studio videos to modules or embed within the rich-text editor on a page, discussion post, or announcement.
Even if we want them to make a video?
Students can access studio from the rich-text editor, from the assignment, or from the media storage link in the left-hand global navigation menu
I believe if you make an assignment use File Upload submissions, they should have a place where they can use Studio.
stay tuned for a link
